Managing Director

Arun Chockalingam is the force behind Marie Data Systems and the creator of the Cost Engine App, a software tool designed to reshape and simplify cost management. His entire focus is directed at startup enterprises to become more competitive and profitable in the marketplace. Arun’s journey is deeply rooted in his accounting expertise, but his true passion lies in delivering meaningful software solutions. His philosophy centers around attention to detail and the execution of his ideas with precision and enthusiasm. This drive, combined with his belief in the power of teamwork, forms the foundation of his leadership at Marie Data Systems.
In 2020, Arun embarked on a mission to create the Cost Engine App. He knew the challenges facing young organizations in managing their cost structures to achieve sound unit economics. The Cost Engine App is designed to trace costs from supply chain activities to serving goods and services for the range of customer types. These costs are inclusive of very part in running a business.
Building the first version of the Cost Engine App, Arun partnered with a food service business in Kuala Lumpur. This collaboration enabled him to test and refine the software in the real world, ensuring that it was both practical and user-friendly. The app was initially tailored to help the food services industry to better understand their cost drivers and profit margins. Enabling them to make strategic decisions about pricing, menu offerings, and operational efficiency. Today, the Cost Engine App has evolved into a cloud-based solution designed for broader applicability, particularly for the food services industry.
However, Arun’s vision for the Cost Engine App goes way beyond food services. Organizations in sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and hospitality have shown potential in adopting the app, recognizing its potential to enhance cost control and profitability in their industries.
